The Burress Lab has its first live fishes!

Last week, we received our first live fishes - Hemeraia chicha (formerly Crenicichla chicha) and Crenicichla semifasciata. They are settling in well during quarantine and will soon be filmed with high-speed cameras while feeding.

Crenicichla semifasciata - a robust molluscivorous pike cichlid from the Parana River, Argentina/Brazil/Paraguay.

Hemeraia chicha - a slender and narrow pike cichlid from the Papagaio River, a tributary to the upper Rio Tapajo River Basin, Brazil.
